L ast Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting my first ever Persian Wedding. It was at the beautiful Intercontinental Century City hotel. Once again I was assisting Tauran Woo, and this event was spectacular and very elaborate. We arrived there around 1pm and quickly started shooting as the bride got ready. By 3pm she emerged stunning and beautiful, and ready to meet her handsome groom.
The wedding ceremony took place around 5:30pm as the two hundred guests looked on. And then the party started. I was amazed with how elaborate the whole production was. They had multiple open bars, several tables full of fruit, and a table with traditional tea, coffee, and desserts. The live band was really good, and the guests danced for two hours before the food came out. At 11:30 the speeches started, and that’s when I learned that the groom was a fellow Anteater, a graduate of UC Irvine.
By 2am, when the wedding came to an end, Tauran and I had been shooting for 13 hours. We didn’t have much time to rest either, because there was always so much going on. Overall, though, the whole wedding was simply fantastic and I can’t wait to shoot my next Persian wedding. Everyone I met was so friendly, and the all the women looked amazing, and the men were dressed up very nicely and handsome.
